Thank you to all of our contributors, readers, and supporters. After a most excellent run of four issues, Chicago IRL is saying goodbye to go our separate ways and explore our own exciting new projects and opportunities. Make sure to check out the Contributor and Links pages to see all of the exciting work still being done out there in this big, beautiful, queer world.
After months of planning and hard work, we’re excited to announce that Chicago IRL #4 is now at the printer. We had a fabulous preview event in conjunction with Salonathon at Beauty Bar this past Monday, and we will have another release party in conjunction with Northern Lights at Parlour on Clark on Saturday, August 25th from 10pm–3am featuring performances from contributors [X]P & Mister Junior, Vajaqueque Brown, and Sissy Spastik.
Cover models for this issue were Jacquelyn Carmen Guerrero, Kokumo Kinetic, Wes Perry and Kiam Marcelo Junio with photography by Jonathan Mathias.
Copies of issue four will ship to Kickstarter backers the last week of August. They will be available for sale at the Northern Lights event and locally in Chicago at Quimby’s, Chicago Comics, and Women & Children First. You can also buy the issue directly from us through PayPal.
Now’s your chance to get stickers, artist postcards, artist prints, lace jockstraps, TOTE BAGS!, and more to be announced in the next 30 days. Oh, and pre-order the next issue of course. There are also packages to get back issues, dinner dates, and ads!
Also, submission deadlines for the fourth issue have been extended to Friday, June 15th. Please, help us make this the best issue yet. We hope to make this a super awesome double issue featuring more work than ever before.
We are gathering submissions for issue four! Send us your best erotic friend fiction, pinhole bathroom photography, dirty napkin drawings, and sordid interviews conducted in church confessionals! For more info, please check out our submission page.
UPDATE: THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, JUNE 15 TO GET MORE PEOPLE ON BOARD!
As part of the Chicago Zine Fest’s reading series, issue 3 contributors Rebecca Kling and Wes Perry performed at 826CHI on Friday, March 9th. Kling read her piece “I Am So Very Sorry” and Perry read an excerpt from his one-man show “Don’t Act Like a Girl.”
It’s that time again! Send us your prose, your poetry, your lewd drawings, your dirty photos, your maddening interviews conducted with yourself and a Yak Bak at 4am. We love works of all types from all sorts of Chicagoans. If you’re not a current or former Windy Citizen, then let our city take center stage in the best fanfic you’ve yet to write. More details can be found at our submission page.
PRIORITY DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 7th (We’ve gotta get this baby out for the Chicago Zine Fest on March 10th)
